MySql password after installation

Postby timwallace » 2006-05-16 22:47

I installed hMailServer on my Windows box and allowed it to install the MySql database. I want to be able to access the MySql instance using the MySql administrator tool, but I don't know what the default password was when hMailServer installed. Where can I find this value? I tried using the password found in hMailServer.ini, but no dice. I don't recall having been asked for a password when I installed. This will also affect my ability to use Webmail solutions, won't it?

Run the script hMailServer\Addons\Utilities\DecryptBlowfish.vbs. It will show a dialog where you can enter an encrypted password. Enter the password you found in hMailSever.ini and paste it into the dialog. Then click OK and the password will be shown.

Remember that hMailServer runs on TCP/IP port 3307. A standard MySQL server runs on TCP/IP port 3306.

Most web mail systems will connect directly to hMailServer IMAP server and not the MySQL server.

The Administrator-password in hMailServer.ini is a MD5 hash - it is not in clear text. You need to enter the password you specified during installation of hMailServer.

I have created login on this site to let hmailserver team and other mates to know how pathetic it is to deal with hmailserver(unfortunately if you get in touch with it, by chance), It like you are the sinner of forgetting the password. All the information I think ia fake( none is working), like Remove some entries from the ini file, shake you head with md5 codes, or with Decrypt utility provided in Addons or even to remove the server it self. Above mentioned methods says you have to enter encrypted password, but guy forgot that there is on more dialog box appears there is "To enter main password" ( which i think if user knows, then why the hell he would be recovrering it..). Secondly, If you enter which u are sure about(it is not correct password), still enters and then encrypted one, it shows message box full of junk characters. see here

I have also tried uninstalling it, then manually removing the files anywhere they are in the system. Reinstall it , it asks me new password and confirm password ... and i dare to login into it again .... hhhuuuuhhhh after 3 hours headache i left it... beautiful application enough to hang somebody.

What did you use blowfish on ? if it was the admin password in the ini file, admin password is not encrypted with blowfish and hence can not be used to decrypt it.

Thanks for reply.

My only concern is to get the administartor password. Everytime when i install and try to launch and connect it. It says "Incorrect username and password", though I have used the same password which i have set on "New Password" and "Confirm password" window. but result is "Incorrect passord".

Hope I will get some concrete way of getting it.

That's the hMailserver administrator password, correct?

Then the link in the post above your first one shows how to change that

#2 is the appropriate one here I expect.

And you are using 'administrator' as the user for logging onto the hMailserver Administrator.
(PS this is a very old thread that you have dug up - in future please start a new thread and link to this thread if you believe it relevant)

Also comments suggesting that this or any software behaves in a way that would make you want to suicide I feel suggests either that you have a poor sense of humour, or you need to seek professional medical help. Life is far more important than any software issues you will face.

I hope it was a misguided sense of humour, and that you really don't feel inclined to suicide.

Want to know something that I think is really funny...?

I, for fun, recreated your issue. Twice in fact.
I used the #2 step exactly as outlined in the documentation, and the I was able to set a completely new password each time.

I'm thinking either you are doing something really basic wrong like say ...

or

That your technical skill set doesn't match the 'Technical Knowledge' listed here >> http://www.hmailserver.com/documentatio ... quirements, in which case you should find someone local to you who has that skill set.

PS - I work in health, and see a lot of people with mental health issues. I don't find your sense of humour very funny. Poor Mental Health is a serious, often life threatening medical condition.
