Hi everyone:
We have decided to upgrade an old machine from 4.3.3 B285 to 5.4.1 B1951, as it is a huge leap, we have been reading all the upgrade path comments in 4.3->5.0, 5.0->5.1, 5.1->5.2, 5.2->5.3, but 5.3->5.4 because we have not been able to find any.
Well, our server is using the internal default MySQL database and has the latest 4.3.3 version installed and running with no external applications linked, so as upgrade recommendations say, I don't see any problem to try directly with the 5.4.1 B1951 install, and afterwards go to check all the modified settings suggested in upgrade recommendations in every step.
Going from 4.3.3 to 5.4.1 directly with B1951 installer makes sense for us, did we miss something that anyone can tell us ?
Browsing through this forum we have only seen one post claiming that 4.3.3 to 5.4 failed due to a non default database set-up specific problem. Any hints are welcome.
Upgrade 4.3.3 B285 to 5.4.1 B1951 ?
Upgrade 4.3.3 B285 to 5.4.1 B1951 ?
My perfect combination:

Pease read following carefully, especially section "Upgrading Multiple Version Steps".
I think you need to move to version 4.4 and then to 5.4.1
http://www.hmailserver.com/documentatio ... mendations
the current version does not have built in MySQL but since you already have the inbuilt MySQL the docs say it should work.

Re: Upgrade 4.3.3 B285 to 5.4.1 B1951 ?
Excuse my typo error, anywhere I speak about 4.3.3 should be read as 4.4.3 B185.
You are correct, first I have to be at last v4, that is 4.4.3 B185 that is what we already have.
I've also seen that 5.0 should be avoided for external databases, but relying on the internal one I have not seen any other comment, so really I agree with you to go from 4.4.3 B185 to 5.4.1.
Thank you for the comment
Has anyone any more ?

Just make sure you backup everything including hmailserver installation folder and sub folders before starting.
Re: Upgrade 4.3.3 B285 to 5.4.1 B1951 ?
Yep to latest 4.4
And then to 5.4.1
It will keep the existing builtin MySQL, and just upgrade it.

Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.
