I was wondering if this combination (hMailServer's spam protection plus Clamav) is enough to fight spam or is it best to run something like spamassassin or ASSP? And, if anyone is running this configuration with success.
Anyone?

i started out with that config but i got a lot of spam to non existent address so i ended up using ASSP.
In some cases it might be ok, depends how high profile your domain is. (how well known)

same for me - initially i just used hmail with a couple of dnsbl and clamav + sanesecurity signatures to fight spam - but nowadays i'm really happy with the use of ASSP (1.3.2).

Same for me. hMailserver + ASSP + clamav works very nice here.
I think you can survive with hMailserver's antispam tools they do a very good job, but if you find Spam as annoying as I do then you need ASSP or another tool.

Running Win2003 Server here, but what do you mean how to configure ? It's just like WinXP, with server services, there is a nice wizard to activate those services.

To configure ASSP you should have a look at here:
http://www.asspsmtp.org/wiki/Quick_Start_for_Win32
To configure ASSP I would recommend install Win32 or SOSDG clamav and then read this forums about how to setup it.
