Custom POP3 authentication

Post by cptcap » 2019-03-13 15:41

hello,
I'm using hmailServer 5.6.7-B2425 on windows Server 2008 R2 standard, with a active directory.
On this active directory, a user can open only one session on the LAN, he can't be logged on 2 clients at the same time.
So there's a side effect with Hmail server.
I have 2 user in my AD, user1 and user2. I create and bind a domain and accounts in HmailServer.
When I'm logged with user1 and i try to configure a outlook account
for user1, I get a autentication POP3 failed. If i try to configure a outlook account for user2,
It works fine, no autentication failed. When i log with user2, I can't configure a outlook account
for user2 (autentication POP3 failed), but I can for user1.
I think it happens because when i configure an outlook account, Hmailserver try to open a session to autenticate my user, and it
is rejected because my user has already on opened session.
Is there a way to custom POP3 autentication in HmailServer, with scripts ?
Thanks

Ced

Have you set any AD integration in hMailserver?
It is pretty limited but you link a hMailserver account to a single AD user
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

There is no such thing like limiting multiple logon session per account in Windows (IIRC Novel Netware has this).
but there is an official MS addon for this purpose. are you sure that this or a similar 3rd party tool has not been installed on your server some time in the past and stil running?

I have to say that the AD is controlled by another server with GPO security
the hmailServer is in this AD.
I don't know how they restrict the number of session.

yes, i meant your DC.
if you have no control over it, you can ask domain admins to grant an exception for your 2 users. or you can take this 2 accounts out of AD integration and manually assign their paswords in their account setup.
(assuming you mean actually "2" particular users. not "for example"..)
