Create a script called test.php, add <?echo phpinfo();?> to it. Put it in your web directory. Then go to this page using a web browser. All the PHP settings should be shown. In the top of this page, there should be a setting called Server API. I think that if contains the text CGI, you probably run PHP as a cgi.

Ok great I ran that I it returned [ Server API CGI/FastCGI]. Do you know how I change this? Sorry if this is a question I should know.

Ok I am getting closer. I used this page to lead me in the direction. I guess the default windows installer runs the cgi option as default.

http://ca.php.net/install.windows.iis

After I did this I am not getting " PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 01D4A8A8 " when trying the vacation autoresponder

I have installed this mod on a brand new installation of HMAIL on win2k3 php4.4.1 and these are the errors I get

A regular install of SquirellMail works fine and I can add components and things like that

Warning: touch(): Utime failed: Permission denied in F:\webroot\WebMail2\plugins\login_alias\functions.php on line 73

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at F:\webroot\WebMail2\plugins\login_alias\functions.php:73) in F:\webroot\WebMail2\src\redirect.php on line 101

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at F:\webroot\WebMail2\plugins\login_alias\functions.php:73) in F:\webroot\WebMail2\src\redirect.php on line 169

When I run src/configtest.php I get the following
ERROR: You have enabled the plugin but I cannot read its setup.php file.

I get this a couple of times. I hae logged in and ran conf.pl and when I got to the plugins options it shows several plugins that are installed but have no name

Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time work with HMAIL and SquirrelMail or any of its dirivitives.

Thanks

Strange. But it looks like SquirrelMail doesn't have write access in a folder it needs to have write access to. The login_alias plug-in creates a file in the <squirrelmail>\data folder. My guess is that your IIS installation doesn't have write/createfile-permission in this folder.

I had the problem with the URI variable, but switching to ISAPI instead of CGI (in IIS) fixed this like a charm...

Here's where i'm hitting my head against the wall... When sending a message, i get this error, twice, and it hangs...

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in __PATH_TO_SQUIRRELMAIL__\class\deliver\Deliver.class.php on line 450

It delivers the message just fine, but it locks when sending a message (i have to click on INBOX to get back).

Any tips?

Well, i actually solved my own problem. Based on what people were saying about having a similar problem of "trying to get property of non-object", i downgraded from 5.1.2 to 4.4.2 and that allowed me to send mail without a hitch, but of course with the default install into IIS6 i had the problem with the URI variable... So i went into IIS and switched to the ISAPI version of php4 and voila! everything worked!

For a little more detail if anyone's having the same issue, to load the ISAPI dll successfully i had to copy all the dll's from the php4\dlls directory, the php4\sapi directory, and the main directory (php4ts.dll) into windows\system32, then go into IIS, the Home Directory tab, click on Configuration, then scroll to "PHP" and select, click edit... Then browse to windows\system32 and open php4isapi.dll... That should get you up and running!

To all who like the visual additions

You could just install the msg_flags plugin.
This patches the code not only to show the icons in the left panel but also has some nice icons for the messages.

Also note that these lines are not in Squirrelmail 1.4.6 rc1.
GlenC wrote:I found that changing setting "advanced tree" to true will give you nice folder icons on the newer version. I had to change these two lines (lines 561, 562):

Code: Select all

$advanced_tree = true; /* set this to true if you want to see a nicer mailboxtree */
$oldway = false; /* default SM behaviour */
Edit: this is in left_main.php

Blank page

Post by ronack » 2006-02-19 00:43

When I am on Localhost I can use this ok. However if I try to use it as a user I get a blank page. I've tried IE and Firefox.

Where did I go wrong?

Squirrelmail vs this mod

Post by ronack » 2006-02-20 21:47

I tried the mod and when I tried to open the page via the internet I got a blank page so I installed squirrelmail and everything worked fine. So I tried copying the mod over top the squirrelmail and went back to the blank page.

Any suggestions for the mod or mod' ing squirrelmail.

Apparently 1.4.6 has been released. I have updated my package to reflect this new build of SM:

41eb045938c56fa643c1099d4ec89b19 hms_squirrelmail.7z (1,116,488 bytes)

2a847f2037752fde3f7ad5ac3a79aef5 hms_squirrelmail.zip (2,540,394 bytes)

This is probably the last time I will be doing this. If someone else wants to take it over, by all means, be my guest. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

In case anyone is interested, the old versions of this mod are still available at http://www.pavelec.net/adam/hms/sm/

I have installed nutsmail skins on my machine, but couldn't get the vacation or password change to work. I installed this package, but would like the skin to also work. Where do I find the changes I need to make?

I am using the mod now and it works great.... but I would like to reset the default page to go to my inbox vs the options page it defaults to now. Do you know where I would be able to chage that?

Think this answers your question:

SquirrelMail Mod for hmailserver is only preconfigured standard SquirrelMail version, hmailserver plugins, couple of plugins that are not bundled by default, some changes in default preferences, default theme modifications and script changes that break translations.

Take SquirrelMail 1.4.8 package and copy from hms_squirrelmail.zip
* config/config.php
* all plugins/ directories that are not present in standard 1.4.8 package
* themes/default_theme.php (replaces existing file)
* data/default_pref (replaces existing file)

And you'll have SquirrelMail Mod for hmailserver v.1.4.8. Only src/login.php modification will be missing. It is possible that packager made some non-standard changes in third party plugins. Haven't checked those with diff. Haven't checked differences between .7z and .zip packages.

Please note that hmailserver 4.3 beta has updated SquirrelMail plugins for hmailserver. Some SquirrelMail plugins bundled in hms mod are outdated. SquirrelMail site contains improved plugin versions. Some bundled plugins have fixes that are posted only on mailing list or by plugin developer.

If you decide to update third party plugins to versions available on SquirrelMail site, don't update compatibility plugin.

Windows users might have issues with image_buttons plugin installation and timezones.

Thanks a lot for this. My roundcube installation suddenly stopped working a few months back and I haven't been able to figure out why. This works perfectly!

uteliux, you shouldn't use this mod. It hasn't been updated in a year and is based on an old version of SquirrelMail.

Check your firewall settings. Make sure that IIS, Apache or what ever web service you are using is not blocked by Win2k8 firewall. 192.168.0.99 is internal LAN address. It is not visible outside of selected network.
