hMailAdmin -> Settings -> Protocols -> SMTP [Advanced] : Maximum number of recipients in batch ??

Hmailserver doesn't care if it is to, cc or bcc (in english) - they are just signals by the email client to what appears in the delivered headers. The 'batch' is the collection of recipients irrespective of which header they belong.

May be a stupid question but what is CCN ??

BCC ???

All emails addressed to BCC are sendt as individual emails. Like...

TO: John.doe@acme.inc
CC: Jane.doe@acme.inc
BCC:Wile.e.Coyote@acme.inc, Road.Runner@acme.inc

Above email is split into to three emails, one with A & CC, one with one BCC and one with the other BCC.

Italian.

Ccn =cc nascondi (= hidden)

A = to

I have to say that the Batch parameter only applies to batches of recipients to the same domain. (So sorens example in the previous post è indicativo e giusto).

I used 11 as the count to allow for 1 BCC address as per the above posts

Only with a script that checks the recipient count and bounces

Using OnDeliveryStart should work fine

Code: Select all

Sub OnDeliveryStart(oMessage)
If oMessage.recipients.count > 11 then
      ' This message has to many recipients. We should not
      ' deliver it.
      Result.Value = 1
   Else
      ' Accept the message
      Result.Value = 0
   End If
End Sub
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

Try it, but I bet you the emails are already split into A/CC in one email and CCN(BCC) each in another email.
The whole idea of CCN(BCC) is that NO ONE ELSE KNOW they are copied :wink:

Yes I agree, that's entirely what I expect to happen

Isn't that what the OP asked for

To limit the TO and the CC to ONLY 10 recipients in total, and to NOT limit the number of BCC recipients
This would in effect force BCC for large email outs, which I guessed to be the point of the exercise, so that you don't have some IT illiterate who sends say the entire schools parental email list to each and every parent because they added them to TO rather than to BCC (and yes this happen at one of my kids school, real issue was the divorced parents who didn't want their ex to know current contact details.)

yes this is the problem... a "stupid" user can't send large email TO and must use BCC.... for privacy and business policy
