August Windows Update - potential risk?

Post by jimimaseye » 2019-08-16 08:59

13th August 2019

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4512506
Known issues in this update

After installing this update, applications that were made using Visual Basic 6 (VB6), macros using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and scripts or apps using Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript) may stop responding and you may receive an "invalid procedure call error."

Microsoft is presently investigating this issue and will provide an update when available.
Anyone had any troubles with Hmailserver since this update? (what with it being heavily involved with VBS an' all).

This issue is resolved in KB4517297, which is an optional update. It is now available on Microsoft Update Catalog and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
i haven't updated anyting in August though. if you dare to do so, pls let us know the result

I'm on Win7SP1 and it seems to be working fine. I did see that warning before I updated, so I ran a test machine for a few days before upgrading my main system. And triple-checked my backups. But I haven't seen any issues.

Anyone else getting issues with Outlook (O365 ProPlus) after these updates?
Both my 1903 test machines were unable to sign in to outlook - I'm getting a 'Offline - Outlook needs your password' at the bottom but no way to enter.
Tried an Office online repair which didn't fix the issue
