Mozilla has trashed firefox again

Post by mattg » 2019-05-05 03:39

FFS

Mozilla has trashed firefox again

I hadn't updated my firefox since v56, and even it got broken by whatever they did.
I guess that my firefox was 'calling home' despite my best efforts to stop that...

It should be some sort of security bug I am told..

I woke up to it yesterday and I'm on ESR version on Windows XP so I thought they had done something to old versions so I removed all my add-on's

Anyways, it's cleaner and much faster in loading now

Well thy have trashed mine. I was on old version v53 (to retain my loved addons that they will remove due to their new Quantum architecture). Hoever, I have just come back from my hollibobs and found that all of my addons are now disabled ('cannot be verified') presumbly due to them changing certificate. Of course they say I can update to fix but that will then wipe out my addons anyway (as they are from the old days when you could use addons).

So arse arse and double arse!

Not happy.

Interestingly it seems to have affected my waterfox too, it wants to do a manual update...

I had some 170+ tabs open in my old firefox (using TabMixPlus) that all appeared on one line once I upgraded to quantum.
I've done done .css hacks, but it is still very ugly

Since Firefox started adopting useless features found in advertising gimmick browsers (no name mentioned) I started losing interest. Dropping support for NPAPI, Flash and Java, plus persistent nagging about updating to their latest version of nonsense was too much in the end.

I now use Pale Moon.

Does pale moon allow and use old style firefox add-ons?

Not sure because I don't use them except for one that stops autoplay of video. But they do provide an extensive array of add-ons that are compatible.

Waterfox has
TabmixPlus, FireFTP, NoScript, Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar + many more

Tried Pale Moon, moved on to Waterfox

Pretty happy with it
