Torrent question

Post by black zero » 2009-08-20 10:56

Does anyone know why my upload speed is always higher than my download speed on the torrent status?

Not that I grudge that, just curious.

Have you forward default torrent ports to your pc? Also some ISP's throttle P2P transfers. I know talktalk do in the UK.

You don't control your upload and download speeds. Uploads overload your link.

Indeed, in UTorrent options you can limit your speed. I limit at about 15k/sec when downloading then max when seeding.

Yep. I've forwarded the required port for uTorrent already.

And I used to think port - forwarding is only needed if you want to do a better upload not download?

My speeds are crap unless i forward default ports however I am no expert on what torrent uses those ports for. Definitely try limiting upload speeds and see if that helps.
