Pop Server does not support LAST command

Post by Hotlanta » 2007-03-21 22:21

I have a user that's using Yahoo! Mail Plus to access the POP server in hMailServer in order to get their mail. This is something Yahoo allows in their "Plus" accounts. When it attempts to get mail from hMailserver, it returns the error:

Unfortunately, there was a problem:
POP server does not support LAST command. You may only retrieve POP mail from this server using "get all messages".

Is there a work around for this?

Regards,

John

Not as far as I know. Strange thing to require LAST support since this was removed from the POP3 RFC over 12 years ago. I don't really know the history of Yahoo, but I wonder if the LAST command was even a part of the specification when Yahoo implemented that mail-fetching-functionality. I think you're the first one to ask about it in this forum, so at least Yahoo is offering a unique service to it's paying customers.

Here's a summary of it:

Edit:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/uk/mail/plus/mailfrom/mailfrom-08.html wrote:Although nearly all mail servers support the LAST command, a few do not. If you happen to be using one that doesn't, then when you click on the external mail account link located at the top of the left-hand navigation, all of the messages in your Inbox will be retrieved, rather than only the new messages.
