hmailserver runs although paused? New files in data directory

Post by opto » 2020-01-10 14:01

I have paused hmailserver, but I find new directories and files in the data directory. Is there any explanation?
TB shows the eml is an email from 08/18, but the file date is new, from the time HM was paused.

Thunderbird shows the date that the email says it was created, not the date that the message was received

Thanks, but I was talking about filesystem file modification time.

While HM is paused, I would expect that all files in data directory cannot change their filetime?

What is the ''creation' date?

Therefore the modified date could be due to anything on windows. Av scanning. File moving. Anything. Creation date is before hms was paused as is expected.

From a Windows Service Perspective, a Pause/Continue Situation is something a Programner can hande by its own logic. There is no guarantee that processing is really stopped while Start/Stop Discard and/or freshly initializes all internal Data structures and params.

the pause is in hmailadmin. I didn't touch the service. probably, I should first pause in admin, then end the service. Will try that.

Thanks, Klaus

Try that - why? As I see it you havent explained a problem yet. The pause in HMS has performed as expected and there is no evidence of mails being received since. (Dont get confused by Dravion's explanation of something else - it was no relation to what you have reported far said).

But yes - if you decide for some reason you want to be ending the SERVICE then it will not hurt to pause in HMS first. (But you havent explained yet why you want to be ending the service).
