Issues After victualing server

Post by Imnottelling » 2019-09-11 13:51

We virtualization their old hmailserver to a hyper-v vm with the same IP details, everything seems to be working and services running, users can send emails but when I send an email they don't seem to get through and no bounce back.
I know pretty much nothing on hmailserver so for the time being have gone back to the physical box, not sure if im just being impatient

Do you actually have a question?

As it was working before, this is nothing to do with hmailserver. Your vm machine is not configured correctly. (Mail servers and their environmental requirements to work are pretty standard. But you already know that, right? )

It's a P2V migration so all the settings should be the same, it's the exactly same server but now running as a virtual machine
Obviously something has changed but not sure what, they get internal emails

Definitely a vm configuration issue. If hms was working before and hasn't been changed then it's not hms (especially if the in internal emails are still working). Hundreds run hms on VMs, youre just not configuring the VM correctly to run a mail server and it's port or network requirements.

Port forward from firewall / modem changed to new IP address?

Certainly sounds related to the VM

(I run my hMailserver on a VM - works perfectly)
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.
