hMail session corrupted

Post by gestohlen_seele » 2019-07-29 23:51

Hello all, my first post so I apologize if this has been covered. I did search but didn't find anything.

My user is too smart for his own good and did something to corrupt the DB instance. In checking, it was throwing a COM exception and when I tried to go in there, it's now giving incorrect root password. I checked the hmailserver.ini and under the [SQL] area, the password field is blank with passwordencryption=1. I opened MySQL Workbench and it won't let me do anything with the instance until this root password issue is resolved.

Is that parameter correct for encryption? Wouldn't something (in this instance) be as simple as putting another hash in there for a new password?

If anyone has any tips on how to proceed with this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Are you sure that this is a MySQL database being used

Please show the entire hMaislerver.ini (with passwords REMOVED)
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

I'm sure it's MySQL, at least that's what it says in here and with the Workbench I try to open for the Session Manager.

Yep that's an external MySQL

Some versions of MySQL disabled the root password after a set period.
This 'feature' was later removed.

I recall that the fix was to change the date on the local machine - but perhaps check with MySQL support about a work around

The password stored in the hMailserver.ini is a hash, not the actual password
(Base64 encoded I think)
