You have External to local requiring SMTP AUTH for the Internet range

That will never work

On the IP ranges tab there is a 'default' button - press that, then try again

Also, some ISPs stop incoming port 25, but mostly only if they also block outgoing port 25

Please enable all logging, try and send to you from the internet and show all logs created after 30 seconds
If no logging then please detail your domain name so that we can test it

The web site is 931mev.com

When i telnet the web page on port 25 it looks OK
When I telnet the static IP the ISP gave me in does not work. I think spamhause has the IP address blocked. The ISP is Frontier. I had to relay through their server to get the outgoing e-mail to work.

I won't be able to check the logs for a day or two. (never did get that webPHP to work)

You have an MX record for 931mev.com that resolves to mail.931mev.com, but you do not have an A record for mail.931mev.com that resolves to an IP address.

Your MX has a priority of 0, change that to 10

You have no A record for mail.931mev.com which should be fixed. My mx record points to an IPv4 address

I have been futzing around with this since 2014. (good thing i have a day job, hey). Definitely owe you guys a beer.

Not sure that it matters, but I get the attached message when I run a diagnostics. But hey, everything works - send and receive!!

That error is because you use port 465 in your SMTP Relayer

If your server works that's great

Do your self a favour and run some open relay tests

I don't have a default domain set.
I don't have catch-all address set.

First open relay test http://www.aupads.org/test-relay.html gave the following:

Relay test result
All tests performed, no relays accepted by remote host.


The second open relay test http://www.dnsgoodies.com/ gave the following:

Good News!
All tests for an open relay on your mail server failed.
Your mail server does not allow open relay.


So, I guess i'm good.
How often should I run these tests?
Is there anything else I should be on the look out for?
Would sending statistics help you monitor for abnormalities?

Check that when you make changes to config
I keep SMTP logs so that I can track for too much mail, and you should at least check the size of those logs to ensure that you haven't been hacked.

I get about 15 -20 attempts most days to crack passwords, or to test my security
and I don't allow port 25 AUTH, so my numbers would be much higher if I did allow port 25 AUTH

just keep an eye on your logs
