hMailServer 5.7.0-B2428 x64 - Failed to create COM object `hMailServer.Application': Access is denied.

Post by JensBanzhaf » 2019-05-24 15:37

Hi,

I have installed hms 5.7.0-B2428 64Bit on Server 2016 and everything looks fine beside PHPWebAdmin.
I tried with PHP 5.6.40 and 7.1.29
PHP extension php_com_dotnet is enabled and com.allow_dcom is set to true
I gave permission for IIS_IUSRS, NetworkService, IWPD_2... (the user, under wich php-cgi Application pool is running) rights to the hMailServer DCOM for local start, local activation and local access.

When i try to access the PHPWebAdmin-Site, I will get this error:

Failed to create COM object `hMailServer.Application': Access is denied.
This problem is often caused by DCOM permissions not being set.

Any help would be appreciated

Jens

Add IUSR to the list of users that has dcom access
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

Hi mattg,

did that but nothing changed.
Now the following Users/Groups have Start- and Activation-Rights (lokal): IUSR, SYSTEM, NETWORK-SERVICE, IWPG_..., IWPD_1...., IWPD_2..., Administrators, IIS_IUSRS, INTERACTIVE

Any further hint?

That's one of @Dravions private builds

We should ask Dravion for help on this

Hi Dravion,

I did that. But nothing changed. Maybe I used a incomplete download for installation because the include_versioncheck.php was missing. I copied it from an old installtion and changed it manually.

If I remember right i had to give dcom the right permission for the iis application pool the website is running under, eg: Iis appool/apppoolname

Example:
iis apppool/defaultapppool

Iisuser permission, that was for iis 6.x and before
Iusr permission is only for classic application pools I believe
CIDR to RegEx: d-fault.nl/CIDRtoRegEx
DNS Lookup: d-fault.nl/DNSTools
DNSBL Lookup: d-fault.nl/DNSBLLookup
GEOIP Lookup: d-fault.nl/GeoipLookup
