Install failed - needs libmysql.dll 32 bit

Post by JimKeith » 2019-03-05 07:06

Attempt to install hMailServer using a mySql database fails in hMailServer Database Setup - Step 6 of 7. See error message below
Copying the libmysql.dll file into the path given in the error message does not fix the problem. I have only the 64 bit libmysql.dll dataset. I cannot find a 32 bit version to copy over. Is the 32 bit version absolutely necessary. How do I get past this error?

Starting task...
Please wait while updating database settings...
Error:
The MySQL client (libmysql.dll, 32 bit) could not be loaded.
hMailServer needs this file to be able to connect to MySQL.
The MySQL client needs to be manually copied to the hMailServer Bin directory. The file is not included in the hMailServer installation.
Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\hMailServer\Bin\libmysql.dll

Found a 32 bit copy of libmsql.dll on http://www.dlldownloader.com/libmysql-dll/
Copied the file into the hMailServer path and solved my problem.

Be carefull on such download sites!

Hackers can patch DLL Files and insert malicious code into it which can download other files and operate under the permissions of the caller Process
which is hMailServer.exe which runs as Service under Localmachine which has the highest permission possible!
