change folders for hmail

Post by cijiro » 2017-11-18 16:07

Hi,
is there any way to change data folder for hmail data (hmail is running long time and there are data and i'm thinking about transfer)

second question:
is there a posibility of set folders for root, stored mails and temp dir each to other path?
(not root and data as subfilders, but root at d:/ and data to e:/ for example?)

Thanks

Do you talk about Linux/Unix like privellege seperation and running the hMailServer Deamon
under a less powerfull Useraccount then "root" to prevent potential privillege escalation?

If this is the case, Windows doesnt have a "root"
User like a Unix/Linux Operating System but the highest User in Windows is "SYSTEM or one of its Aliases like "Local Machine" or "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM". You can use a own User Account or Windows "Local Network" Account. In case you specify a custom Windows Account make sure it has all necessary SID permissions granted or inherited.

You can set the TEMP directory as entries in the INI file (as shown in the link in my previous reply).

For the data: the "data" directory and "root" directory is seen as being the same - or better, we call it the 'data directory root' being where all emails get put for processing (sending or filing in the account folders). This 'root' can be moved (as per the INI) BUT you cannot separate the subfolders - they will always be subfolders from the data directory root.
