Best free tools or ways to archives old emails?

Is there any best free tools or ways to archives old emails by date? I would like archive physical files and database. Is it possible? Please provide me solutions.

IMAPCopy variants can often save copies of all mail in a file storage

Most mail clients offer archiving

Exactly what are you trying to achieve?

if you need something on enterprise level, try to google "MAILARCHIVA" older open source editions. new version offers some free options too but not sure..

I am trying to cleanup databases and file storage on server level for each user that way I don't need to increase their size everytime. I would like to run from this date to this date archive all users emails. I will write them in discs
