Send and receive frequency for Outlook client

Send and receive frequency for Outlook client

This may be old question to group. But I could find right answer anywhere. By defaults outlook schedule an automatic send/receive every 30 mins. How clients know when email receives in between? example for exchange sever clients automatically get emails when it receive. Is there any way we can do for outlook and hmail server?

Please direct me to correct place. If any tool available let me know and install too.

with pop downloads, change the outlook refresh setting to a lower value (I always thought that it was 10 minutes by default not 30 as you suggest)

OR

with IMAP connections enable IMAP IDLE in hmailserver >> IMAP >> Advanced settings
IMAP Idle is instant

Outlook doesn't do IMAP very well though, perhaps try Thunderbird...
