Have you installed and checked the MySQL database service is actually running? Can you access the service using MySQL Workbench?

As for the DLL, I assume you followed this guide: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=27557
HMS 5.6.6 B2383 on Win Server 2008 R2 Foundation, + 5.6.7-B2415 on test.

That explains why it cant find the service then!

Uninstall HMS completely, and reinstall by stating internal database. You shouldnt and dont have to copy MYsql DDL's if you are not using MySQL. HOWEVER....if you WANT to using MySQL (recommended), then make sure you install MySQL first!

Im having this same problem installing hmailserver on windows server 2012, i chose the internal database, but yet i get error connection to database is not available. Nothing in the logs directory either. This is so different from installing on windows 7, it was seamless.
Can anyone help?
