Error when using AfterLogic webmail

Post by lfabrici » 2015-03-14 15:10

Hi,

I'm a happy user of hmailserver, and have recently installed AfterLogic WebMail Lite PHP. I have now 4 times experienced that the webmail client is unable to display the message list, and then I started digging in logs.
After a few ping-pongs with their support, the conclusion was that hmailserver doesn't encode the quotes in the subject, and therefore the webmail client is unable to parse the IMAP result. Having said that several other emails with quotes in the subject comes through just fine, so it must be because of a malformed message. The messages show fine in Thunderbird

Below is what AfterLogic's support stated:
Thanks. Looks like a mail server's bug.

("NAME" "[***SPAM*** ScoreReq 05.4005.00] eFax message from "POTS modem 2 " - 1 page(s), Caller-ID 1-630-226-2563.eml")

The quoted string has unescaped quote chars - "POTS modem 2 ". It's a bug. The correct response would be:

("NAME" "[***SPAM*** ScoreReq 05.4005.00] eFax message from \"POTS modem 2 \" - 1 page(s), Caller-ID 1-630-226-2563.eml")

You can forward this to the mail server vendor or install the new version if they already solved this issue.

The full response from the hMailServer log is here:

I looked through this forum, and found that I'm not the first with the problem:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25985&p=157856

And I even found a commit in the source code that supposeably should solve a similar problem:
https://github.com/hmailserver/hmailser ... c788ddabd3

I'm using the newest production build 5.6.1-B2208. Any chance of this getting fixed in a future production build ?
