smtp server - correct - input the IP

name smtp server - not sure what that is. Leave empty if it allows it

and user name and password - You need to set up an account (xerox maybe) on hMS so the xerox can authenticate. I would expect it also to ask you for a port number. Enter whatever hMS is listening on - probably 25

Setting in Hmail server - I don't know (etc.)- nether do I. I don't understand

When you scan I would expect you to have to enter an email address: name + domain

In hMS you must set up at least one domain and at least one account within the domain. You probably need 3 accounts

1. To authenticate xerox
2. You
3. Colleague

You could skip 1 and use one of the other account to authenticate.

Is your hMS server working? Can it receive emails?

If you do not yet have accounts set up then it is a bit premature to try and connect up the scanner.

xerox error 016-781 Could not connect to the server during file forwarding by CentreWare Scan
Services. Ask the System Administrator to check the network and server.

1. The SMTP details of hMS you are showing are not relevant to this. Those are the details of how hMS sends out emails.

2. The POP3 Xerox details on the scanner are not relevant for sending mail

3. The SMTP Xerox details:

a. I assume 10.0.0.5 is the correct address of your hMS
b. Ditto for port 25 (check on Settings>Advances>TCP/IP ports
c. SMTP Auth. name should be an account on hMS - and it seems to be correct.

So, as long as hMS is listening on port 25 and the IP is correct then to me it looks good, unless you have a firewall issue on your hMS box. Is port 25 (or whatever hMS is listening on) open?

Just noticed that on the Xerox you have SMTP Send Auth set to 'Off'.

Change that to On

And looking some more, I am confused about the whole Xerox page.

Is that just for sending or also receiving emails?

The top of the page starts with Receiving Protocol, so it could be the whole page is to do with receiving emails and printing them out.

You need to make sure you have the right page for sending scans as emails.

The current settings are fine.

0.0.0.0 means all of the IPs of the machine running hMS- Press the Help button on that page.

So that means the same as 10.0.0.5
