Hello,
To those that are using this in front of hmailserver, does it make
a big difference in bandwidth using this product?
I'm currently using hmailserver's antispam tools and they are working
well, but I'm wondering if Anti-Spam SMTP Proxy Server would cut
off the spam sooner and eliminate a lot of traffic?
Any gurus have an opinion?

Which antispam options are you planning to enable in ASSP?
Re: Anti-Spam SMTP Proxy Server
All Checked:
Use SPF
Check host HELO command
Check that sender has DNS-MX records
Verify DKIM-signature header
Using SpamAssassin - but I clicked on Test and it couldn't connect so I'll have to look into that.
Also using DNS blacklists:
zen.spamhaus.org
bl.spamcop.net
dnsbl.njabl.org
psbl.surriel.com
virbl.dnsbl.bit.nl
SURBL servers
multi.surbl.org
It is working well, no complaints except I would like to know if I would see a bandwidth
drop using ASSP? Is their a benefit there?

Re: Anti-Spam SMTP Proxy Server
You would replace internal antispam options with external tool. ASSP will run on same host and number of incoming connections won't change.Infodine wrote:It is working well, no complaints except I would like to know if I would see a bandwidth

It is possible that some ASSP options might drop connections before they reach real SMTP server, but without information about used ASSP configuration, we can't say anything.
Traffic can go down only if hmailserver uses RBLs for scoring emails and ASSP will use them to block connections. Only RBLs and greylisting can affect bandwidth and traffic. Other tools scan email contents and they must read entire email before rejecting it.
Re: Anti-Spam SMTP Proxy Server
ASSP + HMS Antispam is redundant. Just set up ASSP in front of HMS and switch off all HMS Antispam. ASSP is a very comprehensive tool containing already all what is available in HMS as antispam.Infodine wrote: I'm currently using hmailserver's antispam tools and they are working
