Change "550 User Unknown" message

Post by Wim_X » 2010-01-06 16:35

Hi,

hMailServer is configured not to catch-all. So, when someone uses a misspelled email address, they get 550 Unknow User.

Now, I was wondering: is there a way to change this message? I would like to make it more clear that the sender should check the spelling.

Something like: "550 Couldn't find the recipient. Maybe you should check the spelling."

Grz,
Wim

Thanks Martin,

Maybe an idea for a future version :)

Any reason why these messages are hardcoded?

Wim

No, not really. Adding options which aren't really needed is just bad though.

Hello
I think that these messages are hardcoded to respect the RFCs.
