Importing Active Directory Users

Post by gaganuiit » 2009-07-01 11:09

I have Windows Server 2003 server installed with Active Directory.
Now i want hMailServer to communicate with that Active Directory and import all accounts in Active Directory directly into it's database.
This will eliminate the job of creating users in hMailServer.
The hMailServer and Active Directory are on the same machine.

Actually I have a scenario in which i am implementing an intranet mail service for a University Network and we are using Windows Server 2003 with Active Directory and all the users log in on the domain of that particular Active Directory.
Users around 800

Okay? Did you have a question? hMailServer has no integration with Active Directory which makes it possible to auto-create accounts.

So you mean it is not possible yet to fetch accounts and their credentials directly from the A.D into hMailServer database.

Actually i was looking for a feature as in Microsoft Exchange Server where we don't need to create any users and we can directly use the Active Directory users to use mail services.

I have even left a request in the Feature Request section but haven't had any replies yet.

Yeah and finally is there really an auto create option for users because in my domain i really have a lot of users nearly 800 and the auto create feature will be a real help.
Suggestions please.

If you find a way to export AD users to a txt file, the rest would be easy.

Katip,
Should that file contain only the user names or anything else is required as well.
E.g. corresponding password as well.
Because if it requires just the user name what i simply need to do is just to copy and paste all the user names from the Active Directory to that txt file.

But how to fulfill my requirement after that. I mean how to use that txt file after that.
Please reply

Gagan

Does the AD username match with the email address? if so this script i wrote the other day would help you (assuming your using MySQL and PHP)

You may have a look at this topic. But I'm not sure that I understand you correctly.
