Having connection problems

Post by gaganuiit » 2009-06-27 16:06

I am not able to connect to the hmailserver administration.
There is no problem at all with version 4.4.2 but this new version 5.1 does not help me much..
Any solutions..

Hmm, is hMailServer Administrator running on the same computer as hMailServer? If not, have you opened up the firewall?
Looks a bit like you've changed "localhost" to something else in the connection dialog. Why?

Well i was bored with the hostname localhost so i added the mail.hpu.com to the hosts file.
Yes the hMailServer Administrator is running on the same computer as hMailServer.
And i finally got it to work.

Thank you for posting anyway..

So you got it to work by using "localhost" again?

Yes exactly....
This is what i found astonishing as well.
Have a look at this
I mean it does not connect using an alternate host name for the same i.p i.e. 127.0.0.1 but it can send mails using SMTP using that very host name.

So exactly what does your names config look like?

Also, the SMTP setting has nothing to do with that. Please read the documentation to see how it's used.
