Error HM4330

Post by Embanet » 2009-05-04 15:49

Hello,

I am receiving the following error message in my application logs.

"ERROR" 4992 "2009-05-02 09:47:04.976" "Severity: 2 (High), Code: HM4316, Source: TCPServer::Run(), Description: Failed to bind to local port. Error: The requested address is not valid in its context. Address: 208.66.92.34, Port: 587. This is often caused by another server listening on the same port.To determine which server is listening on the port, telnet your server on port 587. Make sure that no other email server is running and listening on this port, and then restart the hMailServer service."
"ERROR" 1704 "2009-05-02 09:49:05.322" "Severity: 3 (Medium), Code: HM4330, Source: TCPConnection::Connect, Description: Failed to bind to IP address 208.66.92.34. Remote IP: , Error code: 10049, Message: The requested address is not valid in its context"

My system has a local ip address which is in a DMZ zone. Firewall has the NAT translation of IP 208.66.92.34 to 192.168.2.34

In the SMTP settings I have the host name of clsmtp.embanetitdept.com which points to 208.66.92.34

Still I am having this problem.

Below is the IP information on the system.

Check if you don't have another app listening to your local port 587..

And update you're a records. If i resolve the mx records for you're domain i get 2 a records back both with the same name but differt IP addresses

There is no other app running which is listening to port 587 except for hmailserver.

Other app running on the server is just HTTP.

Also in regards to the A record, I had to add another IP of our firewall in there because yahoo, hotmail and google were rejecting messages becuase of no reverse entry was found.

Ok I can not tell why the error message accurs.
But make sure that you give a MX record in the DNS pointing to a A record.
And the A records Points to all the IP addresses that recive mail for you're domain.
I the IP adrress ending on a 3 is not the outside of your firewall or other mailserver receiving mail for your domain remove it.
and as for hotmail check your pointer record.

nslookup
set type=ptr
<outside ip address>

this should give back the name matching the a record mentiond above.
