I want to upgrade my stable version of hmail to latest beta. I tried to install it on test machine first, and installation of beta version ran perfectly. I tried to use it to send and receive emails and it did it job correctly as expected.
However, when I tried to restore backup from my stable hmail (using built in export function) to my test machine, it (beta hmail) couldn't download or transfer anything from backup file.
...basically I am asking common question here, what should I do to successfully migrate accounts from my stable to beta version? I could enter it manually, one by one accounts but it would take too much time and.... possible the most boring job ever....
Upgrade problem.
Re: Upgrade problem.
restore will only work to same version.
Do a backup, then update your live install. If it doesn't work then you can reinstall the old version and restore your backup.
Do this on your backup machine first though.

Re: Upgrade problem.
Uh wait, here's what I will do:
Install on test machine, stable version.
Restore backup from my stable to my test machine.
Upgrade my test machine, from stable to beta.
Correct?

Re: Upgrade problem.
lolwut? Hmail crashed with 'object variable is not set' error message when I tried to restore my backup, from stable to stable.... That was on my test machine, though. -.-
Re: Upgrade problem.
Did you reinstall again after your failed restore before?

Re: Upgrade problem.
Wow, I need to uninstall hmail before doing anything cross version. Problem solved, then. Thanks for helping.
