hMail won't send or receive to external domains

Post by MadCoder » 2008-08-22 19:10

I thought I was ready to migrate over to hMail. A little over a month ago I had
hMail up and running fine, but had to disable it until I got everyones email backed up.

Well, today I thought we we're all set to go and I disabled Exchange, enabled hMail
and sent an internal test and WOOT! Received. But went anyone tries to send to ANY external domain, it's blocked. We can't send or receive externally.

It returns error internally and from gmail:

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 Delivery is not allowed to this address. (state 14).

Outlook returns the same when sending within the network

Help!
I'm also looking at our firewall settings. We run a Sonicwall and I've opened all ports to it and still no luck.

It sounds ot me like the IP range settings are incorrect. I'm guessing that you have configured hMailServer to require authentication for deliveries *to* internal accounts. Or you haven't configured hMailServer to allow deliveries from external to local in the IP ranges...

ip ranges
Name Lower IP Upper IP priority
Blank 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 15
Internet 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 10

I just looked and blank was sent to not send or receive from local or external.
I change it so I'll let you know

I don't unerstand that part.

Also, it doesn't make much sense to have two IP ranges covering the same IP addresses but having the same priority.

Any way, "Local to local", "Local to external" and "External to local" should typically be enabled in all IP ranges.

Martin

First Off... THANKS A LOT FOR YOU HELP AND QUICK FEEDBACK.
I deal with a lot of software vendors and I have yet to encounter one
with the help and support you provide. You and hMAIL are awesome.

I did set follow your instructions and all is well. I couldn't be happier
with hMail. It's 1000x easier to administer than exchange ever was.

Again. THANKS A LOT.

Do I need to contact you about compensation for your time or should
we use the donation link?

If only more people were like your good self. :)
If at first you don't succeed, bomb disposal probably isn't for you! ヅ
