Problem to install squirrelmail

Post by sutarwa » 2007-12-03 05:08

I try to install squirrelmail with apache web server to access hmailserver via webmail. But after install apache, PHP 5, squirrelmail i found this error after i login from squirrelmail :

Error opening ../data/default_pref
Could not create initial preference file!
../config/C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\mail\data/ should be writable by user httpd
Please contact your system administrator and report this error.

I think this error from apache setting but i don't know what is it. (I use windows XP with NTFS file system)

thanks

Turn off simple file sharing in WinXP Pro folder options. Then you will see security tab with additional permission properties. If you run WinXP Home, you might need some unofficial hacks in order to get security tab in file properties.

If you mean to share the folder to full access, I already do that but still not work. Than I try put apache docs folder in fat32 drive format but still had the same error.

Ah.

If I remember correctly latest SquirrelMail version should have fixed that issue.

Try setting data directory to '../data/' or 'C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/htdocs/mail/data/'
