This forum should be DISABLED

Post by NetChain » 2023-11-22 00:20

Based on the current state of the server: https://www.hmailserver.com/state
there's no future for the server. Having this forum "Feature Requests" enabled, gives the users false hope of reality.

I still have a lot of tools and programs on my Windows since 1995 and they all work fine,
including developed by myself. Unfortunately the Internet application is not the case.
As the Internet evolves - servers needs to be able to support new features.
It's not a matter of a reliable program which can work for years without an update.

I suggest to disable the "Feature Request" forum and post here as well as in all other forums a sticky note,
stating that the server is no longer follows the latest technologies and therefore should not be used as a reliable
mail server.

I am upset because of the lack of the new "ARC" feature which is essential for my operation.

In the past 6-7 years I developed my own web-based control panel integrated into my business and many other utilities
for my company use to enhance the operation of HMail, and now I have to abandon all of it and move on to the new server.

Prior HMail I used XMail Server ( http://www.xmailserver.org/ ) which I had to abandon for the same reasons,
in favor of HMail. Prior that, there was another mail server, which is dead now. And now the same thing happens again.

I wish the community would pick up the source code and will continue the development of this server,
just like many groups of people actively support many open source programs under Linux platforms.

Until this happens - the users of the server deserved to know the truth.

No-one is hiding 'the truth'.

If I could remove the 'Feature requests' section from this forum , I would.
Only Martin has access to that.
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

Why don't you just put your programming skills to good use and stop whining.

Anyways, when they stop categorizing ARC as "Experimental" someone _might_ deem it "nice to have" and break some code on it but untill then ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll take your suggestion - give me the source code and I'll do it.
(by the way: thoroughly explaining one's point of view is NOT whining,
however blaming someone for whining for no reason is not nice! )
