Server Error for Spamhaus or RBL

Post by Jason Weir » 2004-04-20 05:22

Martin

reference message http://www.hmailserver.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=218

Is hMailServer returning this error?
Error type: SMTP
Error Description: Invalid sender address.
Additional information: Server said: 522 5.7.1 blocked by RBL-plus spam
filter
If so is it possible to expand the error message to include the actual site the info came from.. For example

554 Service unavailable; Client host [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] blocked using rbl-plus.mail-abuse.org;

This will at least allow the sender to know who has their IP on a blacklist and where to go to get it off..

Thanks

That message isn't coming from hMailServer. The string "552 5.7.1 blocked by RBL-plus spam filter" is the remote server's error message. In hmailServer.

If hmailServer rejects an message because it's in the ORDB database, the error message will be "542 Rejected - see http://ordb.org/lookup/?host=[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]"

If hmailserver rejects an message because it's in the Spamhaus database, the error message will be "542 Rejected - Your IP address exists in the Spamhaus database."

To the spamhaus error message, I could add the url of their homepage...
