Hello:
Windows Server Environment
Currently on an existing SMTP system, I am able to set flags on a message that causes a return email message if a message is read, or a return email message if the message is deleted without being read. The messages being sent are orders.
This functionality has been running for years on our application system and is important to the functioning of the business process.
I am not able to figure out how hMailServer can do this, or whether or not it is capable of doing this.
Not having this capability would be a deal breaker for using hMailServer.
Thanks for any help.
Message read or Message deleted without being read
Re: Message read or Message deleted without being read
I forgot to mention that I am using the COM api to programmatically create messages and send them out.
Re: Message read or Message deleted without being read
This actually has little to do with the server but more to do with the message itself.
How had the message been created previously when this worked?
What SMTP server was used?

Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

I have been using the MS SMTP server and the DotNet api interface on Windows Servers.mattg wrote:This actually has little to do with the server but more to do with the message itself.

This is the piece of code that does this:
msg.DeliveryNotificationOptions = Net.Mail.DeliveryNotificationOptions.OnSuccess Or Net.Mail.DeliveryNotificationOptions.OnFailure
' //set read receipt
'//To request a read receipt, we need add a custom header named 'Disposition-Notification-To'
'//in this example, read receipts will go back to 'someaddress@mydomain.com'
'//it's important to note that read receipts will only be sent by those mail clients that
'//a) support them
'//and
'//b)have them enabled.
msg.Headers.Add("Disposition-Notification-To", "<info@someplace.com>")
Trying to determine equivalent for hMailServer.
Thx
Re: Message read or Message deleted without being read
oMessage.HeaderValue("Disposition-Notification-To") = "<info@someplace.com>"
oMessage.save
I think this should replace the header if one already exists of the same name
