version 5.6.7 - Build 2407 / 64bit installation

Post by SchultzITsolutions » 2017-05-29 15:18

Hello team,

I might be missing something here, but what do I need to install the 64bit version of the latest build?
Or will this selection be available only in "stable" release (and if so, are there any, however "un-fixed") date estimations on it's availablility?

thanks for any "insight remarks"
Ruediger Schultz

There are no stable 64bit releases. A 64bit alpha version based on 5.7 is available for TEST systems if you wish but remember it is an alpha and with potential problems. At your own risk.

(logon as GUEST - look under 'artifacts' for the EXE.)
5.7 on test.

Why do you want the 64 bit build?
Many of us use 32 bit hMailserver with a 64 bit database
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

Hello mattg,

I newly installed hMail server on a brand-new server with a 64bit windows OS, and (I belief understandably) I was looking for the 64bit version of the server.
I can (and certainly will) wait until the 64bit version for hMail server is available as stable production release.

so no immediate requirement, but I strongly belief that in 2017, all windows server software should be based on X64 rather than X86_32

Brrrr, ruhig Brauner!

I agree. I wouldnt wait -it isnt going to happen anytime soon (yes, I think we are talking YEARS rather than months).

If Hmailserver is more important than simply use the 32 bit - it does the job just like the 64 bit (no benefit in performance has yet been identified in using the 64bit). If the principal of using 64bit over 32bit on a 64bit OS is more important that having hmailserver then I would go look somewhere else for another solution. (Personally I would have thought having a working solution was more important than how that solution is built on especially when (in theory) both versions of the solution will be identical in functionality).
5.7 on test.

Due to growing number of IMAP connections, there are memory issues with the 32 bit version causing errors. The machine's 64Gb memory is largely unused. Do we have any estimate on around when the 5.7 will be released? Would it be later this year (2019) or looking more into next year?

I have been able to use the LARGEADDRESSAWARE trick to alleviate the problem somewhat for the past few months.
