Translation editor available again!

Post by martin » 2009-02-21 12:02

The translation editor is available again if you want to help out with the translation. Select Community in the top menu, then select hMailServer Translation if you want to help out. :)

Hi Martin,

just to clarify before i start with TR translation:
i see that already completed parts were done by avoiding some extended chars. this is due to unicode incompatibility of pre-5 versions i suppose.
now will this translation backwards or v5 only compatible? IOW can we start to use extended chars (and edit older stuff too BTW)?

Not sure how to do that yet. Might integrate something into hMailServer Administrator in the next version to download the translations. :-\

An other small thing....

Some dialog box are too small.

For example, when you start hmailserver administrator, the box "Add Domain...", in french "Ajouter un domaine...", only show "Ajouter un" because the box is too small.

I've made some fixes for the next 5.1 build on this.

Some words are wrong.

I think the attached file is 99% displayed correctly.

I translated the German version completly. I also corrected some words, which were not properly or inconsistent translated. What translation will be generally taken? What the most people have translated or what the last translated...

andyp,
The latest one wins. It could be implemented as a voting-system or something similar but I'm guessing that would give problems as well. It's problematic if some translator feels that WordA is good while another feels that WordB is better. I'm not sure really what to do about it. I don't want to spend too much time on the translation system, on the other hand I would like good translations. :-\

Hi!

When I tried to help translate, I found an issue. There are two different forms in Chinese that are called 'Traditional Chinese' and 'Simplified Chinese'.

I recommend the hMail Team should separate the Chinese Language into two parts.

Hungarian translation is done.
Bagu: But smal question, how a beginner can download and install these translation ?
Im sure if you can control a mail server, you can install the language file easly.

You need only a few steps to see your translation:

1. In hmailserver.ini, add the following lines (if you dont see it already):

[GUILanguages]
ValidLanguages=catalan,chinese,czech,danish,dutch,english,finnish,french,german,greek,
hungarian,italian,korean,norwegian,polish,portuguesebrazilian,portugueseportugal,
romanian,russian,spanish,swedish,turkish,yourlanguage

[Settings]
UseLanguage=yourlanguage

2. Put the yourlanguage.ini file to your hMailServer\Languages

3. Restart the server (if the server drops error messages about language string or something and didnt start, you probably mistyped something)

In hmailserver 5.x (im using hMailServer-5.1.1-B341) you can change language in the hMailServer Administrator app too, but i dont know what it is exactly doing. Martin?

ehm, this "restart server" means that you have to restart it in services. Restart from the administration of Hmail server was not enough in my case.
