hMailServer 5.0, build 316 (Beta)

Post by martin » 2008-12-14 12:25

A new 5.0 beta is now available:
http://download.hmailserver.com/hMailSe ... 0-B316.exe

Following changes have been made:
  • Performance improvements (slightly reduced memory usage).
  • HELO-host spam check gave false positive when using a forwarding relay.
  • When deleting an IMAP folder, notifications about new messages weren't always sent.
  • If a POP3 mailbox was larger than 2GB, the size wasn't reported properly in the POP3 communication. (Haven't seen that it causes a real issue though)

Minor error in hmailserver administration

Post by andyp » 2008-12-14 14:44

You havn't defined a domain yet,
create a new IMAP group,
and try to select new members to add into group,
an error is thrown by pressing the "select" button.

InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'.
Parameter name: SelectedIndex

ExceptionType: ArgumentOutOfRangeException

Seems the default value of one of the comboboxes runs out of the list or array.

I'am really looking forward to use hmailserver 5. Great thank you Martin.

Thanks. Will be fixed in next build.

(I assumed that users would add domains and add accounts before trying to give accounts permission to IMAP folders... I doubt that bug will be a problem in "real world".)

That's one thing about us users... we'll try anything!

Speaking of trying anything...

Could you try to duplicate this?

Make an account level rule like this:
IF FROM CONTAINS "some part of YOUR email address"

FORWARD EAMIL TO someuser@externaldomain.com
FORWARD EMAIL TO anotheruser@externaldomain.com

I send myself a msg and immediately receive 3 msgs in my inbox. The original email I sent (1 or 2 times) followed by a msg from Postmaster (2 or 1 time, always there are 3 msgs total but it seems to vary for some reason) stating the message could not be delivered.

Code: Select all

From: Postmaster
Subject: Message undeliverable
Date: Sun, 14 Dec 2008 12:50:04 -0300

The mail server could not deliver the message to you since the file C:\Program Files\hMailServer\Data\{2AB4CC64-8361-49A2-A188-335915297A71}.eml does not exist on the server.

The file may have been deleted by anti virus software running on the server.

hMailServer
Then this in the debug log

Code: Select all

"DEBUG"	5264	"2008-12-14 12:50:04.609"	"Saving message: C:\Program Files\hMailServer\Data\{2AB4CC64-8361-49A2-A188-335915297A71}.eml"
"APPLICATION"	5264	"2008-12-14 12:50:04.609"	"Severity: 3 (Medium), Code: HM5026, Source: PersistentMessage::_WriteDataToMessageFile, Description: Message retrieval failed because message file C:\Program Files\hMailServer\Data\{2AB4CC64-8361-49A2-A188-335915297A71}.eml did not exist."
I disabled system antivirus (which already excluded that directory) and hmailserver is not set to delete any types of messages, only scan and mark. The forwarded msgs, DO get delivered however.

I just thought to look and it appears that the message I referenced above - {2AB4CC64-8361-49A2-A188-335915297A71}.eml - is orphaned in the data directory.

Hmm, did a quick test but didn't get the same problem.

You're using build 316, right?
Do you have other rules as well? Or maybe "normal" forwarding set up?

I'm still on 315 sorry, wrong thread  But looking at the changelist I'm not sure it would make a differrence.

I do have other rules but that particular one is at the top of the list. Let me upgrade to 316 real quick, then I will disable all other rules and try again.

No forwarding set up and also not running any scripts.

I'll post back in a few minutes with the new test results.

Another update, I know what's causing it now.

Another oddity I forgot to mention (and might be a problem with the Thunderbird beta I'm running). Sometimes the messages are not visible and I have to view the source to see what's in them. Moments later, -sometimes- the message IS visible. Really strange.

The copy of the message created by the rule wasn't completely detached from the original account. It will be fixed in the next build.

Ok... you building today? If so I can test later after I return from the supermarket. No hurry though, it's not a feature that is used very often in my particular case.

Yes, that took care of every issue I mentioned. Thanks for the rapid response. I use that feature to forward some voicemail messages to my roommate, so she says "thanks" too :)

:)

Apparantly automated tests were missing for rule forwards. I've added that now, so that issue shouldn't reappear again. At least it won't appear in its current form. :)
