eballinas, did you read the first line in the first post in this thread? If you want something to change, you'll need to give some better arguments than free, fast, secure and standard. None of those are really unique for Firebird.. :)

why bundle a database with it at all? MySql is commonly used and free. Why not just use a database in an external implementation of MySql that the user has to install and set up?

It is more use friendly this way with it bundled, not everyone would know how to install an external database? That would be my guess.

MySql is commonly used and free
MySQL ins't free. There's a lot of limitations on how it may be used and distributed. :)
