OpenSSL 3

Post by bat78 » 2024-08-12 23:54

Hello. I'm new guy here, not everything is clear to me.

Is that possible to build hmailserver with OpenSSL version 3.0 or 3.3 ? OpenSSL 1.1.1 is already depraceted and I need something more up to date.

Thanks in advance. Any info would be valuable.

Our Member @Rvdh has already built it for us so we don't have to do it (Plus lots of enhancements)

I hope someone can help with a related question. Will my RSA-2048 certificate created with OpenSSL 1.1.1 be compatible with the OpenSSL 3.0 build? Or do I need to re-key using OpenSSL 3.0 tools and have it re-issued before upgrading?

Since RSA-2048 is still supported in OpenSSL 3.0 and upgrading to B74 (from B68) was relatively easy I decided to give it a try this morning and things are working. My Thunderbird client made a seamless transition, but on my iPhone (iOS 18) I had to close Mail, review acct settings, and reopen to get the connection working again. Not sure if it had to re-ingest the cert again or some other issue (yes, I'm running iOS 18.) I'm far from a security SME so I hope this helps someone else looking to to the same.
