400 cores (assuming theres only 2 cores per server, unlikely, probably more like 800/1200 cores) so were going for a scaling of between 250 users per core and 83 users per core. 5 mill a day = 58 mails sec ... seems some pritty crap mail software to need 4 or more cores per mail received, even count...

I used maxmind as I think it's quite reliable ... not found another source as good yet (thats my view, so thats what I coded, I'm sure other people have other views!). The whole thing is automated - it downloads the maxmind data, unpacks it, parses it, adds it to the HMS ip ranges and blocks them. D...

I was assuming (maybe wrongly) ... that i would be faster to do it locally than via another external connection for each mail check ... and guessed the IP range would kick in before rules / BL were processed.

Database IP Number Format

Elo,

Anyone knowhow to convert the ip number in thedatabase to an IP address?

The IPs are stored as integers ... e.g.
1.1.1.1 = 16843009
255.255.255.255 = 4294967295

Thanks

Theres nothing to delete unless you use imap. The sent items will all be stored on the client so would have to go though each client individually to do it.
