not sure where my previous post went ... seems to have vanished. I use root for database connection. create a new user, remote root access is blocked by default, and bad practice to run as root, create a new user! http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html is handy to save learning SQL. S.

Theres only 1 developer (Martin) ... but as long as the build you use is stable and feature complete to your requirements, then if Martin didn't ever develop anything again, then it doesn't matter. hMail has been developed over many years, so I doubt it would ever stop being developed. Putting records into the db wont create mail ... the db doesnt store the messages, just a record of them.

I've set up a new new compilation / test server for the donations. Whenever I make a change in the source code, it will automatically retrieve the latest source code, create a new hMailServer build, install it on everything from Windows 2000 Professional to Windows Server 2008 and MySQL/PGSQL/MSSQL...

i guess '1' and error 30 maybe unknown column error code or something?

I assume 1 doesnt exist as a column name, and since theres not a select all you cant use 1,2,3 as column refs.

you got sme windows services running for mail? ... maybe worth checking there not hogging the port and your firewall is doing a happee .. sounds like its firewall related if you can get to some and not others.

4.x isnt a private IP range though .. so external routers wont be able to get there / it will make stuff very confusing instead of just using a 10.x / 192.x etc.

If thats you IP address, what has 4.2.0.20 got to do with anything???

You'll have to explain your setup a bit more ...

(im assuming you control 4.2.0.20 somewhere along the line and want to use it and havent just randomly entered it into your server?!?!?!?)

hMail does some caching of data ... so suspect it would be a world of pain. Just using routes and having one act as backup (no user logon allowed) should suffice though. If the web connection is so bad its going to be off for any length of time then have a look at colo or rented hosting. Relying on ...

But the really strange thing is that the indexing speed is roughly the same (2400 vs. 2300/min) on these very, very, very different machines might be related to the number of connections available to the database? i.e. when you set mysql you set the number of connections based on likely use ... sus...

I run it on hmail 5.1.2, but people have it working with later versions without change, just I haven't tested it yet.

Needs Perl and a few modules, so check the pre-requisits on there.

done it again ... so here we are! (didnt get the imap complaince error this time, just a uid error one)

I don't think you can bind by domain.

Why do you need to?

If its just to make it look like its a different server per domain then use a generic mail.mygenericdomain.com for the server?

Hi, I've got IMAP setup and two people accessed the same mail box at the same time (I thought this was ok?). The second one got a load of error messages about uid's (see screenshots). you could probably convert all the ID columes to an unsigned big integer if you were going to hit the 2bill. That will give you 18446744073709551615.

nowhere in the log is the ip addressed used for the mail though?

perhaps somewhere the ip is being translated to a domain, which hmail cant find as its setup as the ip address (therefore its treating it as a foreign domain and rejecting it)?

I think hes saying that when emails are CC'd from/to someone that uses a client on a win98 machine it doesnt work.

I'd guess if there on win98 the client is seriously old and doesnt work properly.

hes my educated guess ... folderid = unique identifier, probably done with a trigger or similar so be careful manually adding / check theres no trigger, sequence thing setup. folderaccountid maps to hm_users.accountid folderparentid = the folderid of parent folder in imap view foldername = name fold...
