Martin, You are correct about the Notepad thing. Although even in Notepad the characters are spaced out (like T h i s).

Maybe this is a stupid answer but... I kinda like your sqlite approach. I'm assuming that the installer will be intelligent enough to detect an SQL server running and ask the appropriate questions about which method the user would like to use. Hey that was really nice. I always wondered if I was in sync or not (mostly due to a lot of experimentation I've done in the past). For the record, I only had two orphans.. both 0 byte files.

There appears to be an undesirable side effect using google though. It rewrites the headers as though any mail relayed is from the gmail user account. Which makes this hack for gmail kinda useless. Hopefully you won't have this problem with your ATT account.

That specific error is actually when I was attempting to log in with a user other than one with "server" status. At one point (last night) I logged in after I gave the user server rights and then (stupidly) :) changed that same user to domain level.... it immediately went to the mostly white screen ...

I run the hMail administrator as an admin user on WinXP. I hope this isn´t some stupid "gotcha" thing :) Anyway here´s the PHP log. The server should be the address for stunnel. For me I use 127.0.0.1 . hMallserver will then connect through stunnell using the address for gmail which is provided by the stunnel client config. (or something like that :) )
