You can use a third party relay. I use smtp2go. They have a free option if your volume is low enough.

Hmailserver has absolutely nothing to do with xampp. The only thing i can think of is maybe you somehow enabled mercury mail which took over port 465. Please enable logging, try again and post the logs. Change from 32bit XAMPP to 64bit XAMPP could be a problem with the database driver in hMailServe...

You could set a rule - if CC contains email@gmail.com then run function - a script that strips recipient email@gmail.com.
