Re: "Relay Access Denied" when using account Forward
Thank you for finding and linking to that katip . I did a search on the forum for "relay access" but that thread did not come up. A few others did but they were not the same kind of issue either. Fascinating.. I had no idea that this other setting existed in the ini file. I will give that a try. How...

"Relay Access Denied" when using account Forward
Hello, I am hitting a significant problem for the "Forward" function on user accounts. Here is the background. hmailServer v5.6.7.b2425 All outbound is setup for go through a third party spam/virus filter service via STMP -> Delivery of e-mail -> SMTP Relayer Currently, anyone sending from within ou...

Re: Distribution List Note/Date field
Just refreshing this request from 2016. It didn't see alot of votes, but all of them were in favour for it! (Yeah, just 3 but that's still 100% for it!) We get lots of student volunteers. They often use bizarre choices for e-mail names. Everything from slowpoke@hotmail.ca to fascarz97@ to mjrcks5@ a...

Auto-Reply for ALIAS address
Hi, Here's a simple one (I hope). It would be great if the Alias address could have auto-replies like a domain account gets. Why? We sometimes create specialty alias's for a period of time. For example, cleanup@our.com to market a cleanup day we are part of and taking registrations for. When someone...

Re: Log file HUGE
Holy crap.. BareTail! See that's something I would benefit from. Hadn't known of it. I'm grabbing that now, thank you Matt. And I did not know about those other switches to separate the logs. That info is not in the documentation under Logging or ini-file settings. Wow lots of keys in that message t...

Re: Log file HUGE
Thanks for your reply Matt Great..now I got two different answers :-) We do use AwStats so I leave that on. That's no problem at all - it is a totally separate log file. It is unfortunate perahps that all other logging gets dumped into the same file. Maybe a future feature would be to separate them ...

Re: Log file HUGE
Hello Jim, thanks for your reply. Currently I have logging enabled for Application, SMTP, IMAP, TCP, and AwStats The Imap seems to be the largest contributor. We have 60+ users on various devices - desktops, laptops, and 20+ cell phones. All are imap connections. Our server is locked down. Every sen...

Log file HUGE
Hi, How do you guys deal with the size of the hmail log? I find it painful to ever try to dig in to it to troubleshoot with. Some days it is as large as 7 gigs. Normally it's just 1 to 2 and so when I see it get that large it worries about what the heck is up. Do you have any good analysis tools to ...

Does hMail check DISPLAY name and email for 530 SMTP authentication error
530 SMTP authentication is required. (in reply to RCPT TO command) Does hMailServer check both the e-mail address AND the Display name of the "From" field when a message comes in to the server for delivery to a local user to see if the sender needs to authenticate? Our HR person uses a third party t...

Add AD Account - Limit to OU
It is increasingly problematic to try to add new accounts from Active Directory when the add AD Account list is being read from the entire Forest. It is a mess to try to find that one name, even when you sort by name, because you have to scroll through a gigantic list of data that includes inactive ...

Log details - cannot see incoming IP?
Hi, Is there some way to change the detail of what hmail logs? When I look in the logs at connections, I see a line like this for example. "IMAPD" 2332 73712 "2016-12-04 22:13:43.835" "192.168.4.207" "RECEIVED: A1 LOGIN "SCUBBEDUSERNAME" ***" But that 4.207 address is useless to me.. that's the serv...

Re: Delete all messages already inside folder with subject
IMAP Yes
Subject is pretty consistent.. but a tweakable manual-run script would be ideal
Yes, using external (MySQL)
I don't know scripting particularly well myself
Basically, every From address is going to say its from our own mailer daemon failing to get the message out too.

Delete all messages already inside folder with subject
Hi, We have a user who is being swamped with auto-reply mailer-daemon messages (his address was used to send tons of spam). I want to remove all messages already IN his folders that have that From address / subject. I see Rule settings and applied that for him for incoming, but what about the 20,000...

Distribution List Note/Date field
Hello, It would be extremely helpful if there was 1 additional column of information for the Distribution Lists - a field for the admin to record up to say.. 50 characters of text max, even less, for us to enter a name for the e-mail address. Sometimes the address we add to these lists are obscure t...

I am afraid! :-) I very much appreciate your couple of tests there SorenR I'll try a few similar tests here, and some others. Re: Setting AutoReply From (is Settings gone?)
I had a thought.. as I looked at those tabs. Not sure who could best answer this... but I only just noticed, the General tab where the Domain box resides with our current "old" domain.. it's still plain text. I could edit it. If I did that, and changed it to the new domain... would that screw everyt...

Re: Setting AutoReply From (is Settings gone?)
Hello,
Yes, that already exists for us under Domains -> Names tab, where the entry there is the new domain name we started using. When staff send e-mail themselves, it's fine. Only the server's auto-reply causes it to show the original old domain.

Re: Setting AutoReply From (is Settings gone?)
Hello SorenR, Thank you for your reply. We do have mx records already configured. Our users can receive e-mail no problem at two different domain names. But when hmailserver itself has autoreply turned on for an individual user, it defaults to setting the "From" field to username@ourdomain.com for t...

Re: Setting AutoReply From (is Settings gone?)
Ask not why... but why not! :-) We setup "@ourdomain.com" in hmailserver years ago. About a year ago, we moved to "@newdomain.com" We used the domain forwarding option inside hmailserver so that any message to user@ourdomain.com was automatically directed to them under the new one. So our users insi...

Re: Sieve / Managesieve for AutoReply / Vacation
This is something I have been waiting for, for a long time. I opened that 2013 managesieve request. As it stands right now, every single user we have that wants to create an auto-reply has to send the message that want to me. Then I have to put it in for them. Years of this is driving me friggin nuts.

Setting AutoReply From (is Settings gone?)
Hi, I searched the forums for an answer to this, and thought I had found one, but it hasn't worked. This post from 2014 says there should now be a means to configure an AutoReply setting for the FROM address https://www.hmailserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=26084&p=158762&hilit=autoreply#p158762...
