HMS plus Calendar and contacts sync between outlook and phone / tablet

So this is probably a grey area for a how-to since its not strictly about HMS but it does provide an enhancement to HMS users that got me out of a situation I had recently and might not suit everyone because it uses Outlook and a Gmail account. HMS being an IMAP server doesnt really have any contact...

Avast AV and Hmailserver

Let me start by saying I cannot take the credit for this, if you do a search for Avast and hmailserver a great truckload of information comes up and I have just spent an hour or so sifting through it and come up with the below for quick reference. - Go to Avast website and signup for the FREE busine...

Re: How to use MS Security Essentials as virus checker in HMS

**UPDATE** When I wrote this HOWTO, my mailserver was only getting a 1 - 2 thousand emails per day. Since then, I am now getting ~8000 emails per day and MS Security essentials is not keeping up. I woke this morning to find lots of emails marked as viruses and a few calls from customers with the sam...

Re: SpamAssassin Bootcamp (sa-learn)

1, @DART: is it really necessary to use the modified version of running SPAMC -L, when the original suggestion of using SA-LEARN can do the job without loading the SPAMD process (thereby avoiding the delays on the service for realtime incoming scans) and also To be honest, I am not sure I can answe...

Re: SpamAssassin Bootcamp (sa-learn)

Hmmm.... ok, understood. I am now left wondering..... In other words, my question is: XP/Win7 Server 2008 ^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^ Has 'DEFAULT user' Yes No DB path? SPAMD run as Yes Yes System Process Will refer SA-LEARN to Default User DB Yes No - so where is the Bayes DB stored? Will refer SPAMC -L t...

Re: SpamAssassin Bootcamp (sa-learn)

I saw the references to path directories containing spaces in the '*copy.cmd' files, I wasnt referring to that. I was referring to your comment: where you changed from using SA-LEARN to using SPAMC instead. (at least, that is how it reads to me) Oh ok, I see what you mean. Yes, that was a conscious...

Re: SpamAssassin Bootcamp (sa-learn)

Paths have changed in the latest version of spamassassin, its all described in the above thread. It was an issue with spaces in the path, even Soren responded in agreement. Yes, you could adjust the paths during install but most people wont as it is the tyranny of the default and you don't realise i...

Re: Unable to send an email

FYI.. Spamhaus PBL... Yes, I realise this but he is also on spamhaus Zen which is bad. If you are on any of these lists, it is likely that mail you send will be blocked by some mailserver admin somewhere including the PBL. Since we now know he is on a dynamic IP, running a reliable mailserver is go...

Re: Unable to send an email

Thank you very much! I thought it would something like that.. Do you know if it is possible to ask the provider to give me only ip-addresses that aren't blacklisted? The provider is not really going to care or give you another IP as this one can have its reputation restored with some simple work. T...

Re: How to use MS Security Essentials as virus checker in HMS

Well, it may not be the most trusted anti-virus solution I've seen so far  Yes, i agree the exit codes could do with a re-work but its a solid product for this purpose. I would rather throw away a few attachments if there is an error than let a virus though because I wasn't using any AV tool....

Re: Mailbox Size Exceeded

You will need to either increase the quota for the domain so they can accept more mail or ask the user to clean out the mailbox. It is not the servers responsibility to cleanup the users mailbox.
