Right, but desktops that run off a LAN connection can't gain access to the mail server over the main office network. Which is a problem for workers internally working on desktops and not Wi-Fi.

Just for testing I joined the office's guest network which is on a different subnet (192.168.2.1) but uses my ISP's router as a gateway to the internet (192.168.1.1). When I am on the same network that the server is on (the office), I can't connect to the server. If I am using a wireless cell phone network like Verizon or AT&T or a public Wi-Fi, I can receive and send mail.

Nevermind - I am an idiot. I looked over my forwards on my router again and I swore I forwarded port 143. I am able to get a connection now.

However, I can't establish a connection internally, just externally. Is this a DNS issue on my server?
