Re: How to have POP/POP3 client retrieve both Inbox and Junk

Surely all [spam] messages regardless of IMAP or POP3 are being tagged anyway. Those users who are using POP3 can configure rules on client-side to filter into folders when they receive the emails. I was of the understanding that if you connect via POP3 it will download all messages in the account i...

Nokia N900 IMAP email

Hi All,

I have been using the email client built into the Maemo OS and have found it to work very well with HMailserver (using imap) for a few weeks now.

Just thought id share that with you.

Are you proposing that because you were able to create a domain when you have 'create domain' privileges that it is a bug?.

Re: How to install hMailServer over MailEnable

I migrated from Mail Enable a few months ago and from what i remember the version of Mail Enable I was using stored user details in plain-text within the Mail Enable program folder. I had a few hundred accounts so created a script to create them on hmailserver using COM api (i cant find the script)....

It is my understanding that only messages sent to the email address of the distribution list will be distributed to the members of it. Sending a message to a member of a distribution list will not send to everyone else in it.

Re: Whitelisting by entering data into the hm_whitelist table

If someone has a massive whitelist and can run this query it might be a good benchmark. SELECT count(whiteid) FROM hm_Whitelist WHERE whiteemailaddress='[email address in your whitelist]' if it returns > 0 then the address is in ya whitelist. But do we really need that number? COUNT is more expensi...

Re: Whitelisting by entering data into the hm_whitelist table

Users with whitelist of 50,000+ require more RAM and you still have the overhead of doing the lookup dont forget. What you loose in sql lookups you probably gain in having freed up RAM. There is a good chance Martin as looked at doing it this way before as I would expect it would of been easier to i...

Re: Whitelisting by entering data into the hm_whitelist table

Umm, im not sure its such an issue. I have just performed a simple query to lookup a nvarchar in a table with 1.8 Million records and it took next to no time.. and it aint a powerful machine. If someone has a massive whitelist and can run this query it might be a good benchmark. SELECT count(whiteid...

Re: Whitelisting by entering data into the hm_whitelist table

Reasonable point Magnus, I didnt realise it didnt do that until I added my 1st whitelist record manually. If your looking up the address in the cache I would of though checking the address using a SQL query which returns true or false probably doesnt have much if any more of an overhead. But Martin ...

Re: Whitelisting by entering data into the hm_whitelist table

I agree doing it through the COM makes the most sense. I may not be explaining my idea correct or maybe I am and it is rubbish. If upon receipt of each mail (which is why having it as an option might be useful) hMailServer could check for newly added whitelist address using the cached=false it would...

Re: Whitelisting by entering data into the hm_whitelist table

My thought was once the item as been added to the whitelist it will always remain true. This is only an easy way to get newly added records. (which probably isnt going to happen all that often). The flag gets set to true after its added to the whitelist collection in hmailservers cache. It will be l...

I'm not sure if you understood dooms comment, Your getting that message because your using graylisting. If you want messages from that sender to always come through add them to the whitelist. :)

Re: Whitelisting by entering data into the hm_whitelist table

How about adding a bit flag of 'cached' on the table which defaults to false, then upon receipt of each message a simple 'SELECT * FROM hm_whitelist WHERE cached=false', amend any returned records to the collection and then set the value to true. The over-head of checking for newly added whitelist a...

Re: Whitelisting by entering data into the hm_whitelist table

After restarting the hMailserver service the enties are showing in the whitelist as expected. I guess I will have to run some tests to see if hMailserver picks up the entries without needing to be restarted else i'll have to recode to use the COM api :|

Whitelisting by entering data into the hm_whitelist table

HI, I have created a summary report of spam emails with an option on it to add a sender to the whitelist. I was hoping to simply add the required data straight into the 'hm_whitelist' table. (MSSQL) The data is being entered ok but it is not being displayed in the 'hMailserver Administration > Anti-...

Re: I am not able to receive the message

you would need to enter your own host or ip address instead of 'mail.hmailserver.com' to connect to your own server. If you cannot connect to 'mail.hmailserver.com' then like martin suggests, your ISP may be blocking connections to port 25 or the machine is not connected to the internet. This should...

If you've sent a message through Outlook and received it then its most likely running fine, You may want to enable SMTP logging (if not already enabled) and try sending another message and tracking it down in there.

Interface to ClamD just like the one for SpamD

Whilst clamwin seems to play nicer on win32 than sawin32 does (just my opinion), it would be good to be able to have an option to use clamd running on another machine, either real or virtual like can be done with spamassassin (spamd). I have spamd running on a Linux virtual machine with better perfo...

Virtualbox as a very useful command line application for managing your VM's, its called VBoxManage. to start a VM automatically on boot you could simply create a shortcut that runs "VBoxManage startvm <nameofvm>" and stick that in your startup.

I dont know if this is an option for you but I have found running SpamD on Ubuntu 8.04 ( Jeos) system inside VirtualBox as worked very well on a system with 10 users with around 500 messages a day so its by no means under heavy load. I have it configured with only 256Mb Ram and could obviously incre...

Found the solution, worked after adding AND criteria 'Recipiant List' NOT Contains 'sandbox@myaccount.com'. The original rule was simply running again on the forwarded message and deleting it. Thanks for your assistance.

Re: Rule for creating a 'sandbox' system.

Messages are being sent TO the server by an application running on the machine on localhost. It was a fresh install and only has 1 domain with 1 account. Did you created the rule as you put in your earlier post or the replace headers one I mentioned above?

Rule for creating a 'sandbox' system.

Hi, I am attempting to configure hmailserver to act as a sandbox for one of our systems. I have tried all s...
