Changing the SMTP size allowed me to import mail.....

if i understand it correctly they block everything that they think that would be webmail.

i stated that it was strange that the block hmailserver.com and not block microsoft.com. both contain mailserversoftware.

If so don't disable it. But send it from one local domain to another using HMS and not your ISP

are you receiving e-mail directly from the internet. or are you collecting them from your isp?

Have you forwarded port 25 on you router/firewall to port 25 on the machine where HMS is running on.

because conneting to port 25 on the IP you gave resulted to nothing

i'm running HMS on server2008 R2 voor 6 months now.
first on web edition but the lack of creating an application pool.
I made a fresch install on a standard edition. Now i can create appilcation pools without problems.
This is what i needed for my webmail application. not for hms

if your provider blocks port 25 inbound. and you set a different portnumber you will not be able to receive mail.

If your provider blocks port 25 outbound. maybe you can setup a global rule to relay to your provider

not only when you use IIS FTP the users need to be in the local SAM to have acces to your system
Also by default (and you can not disable it) it is active FTP and passive FTP. you will never know when you have errors.
You need to setup a static portrange.

Here in the NL my ISP blocks port 25 for outgoing mail. for that porpose i need to relay my mail using there mailserver as relay. but for i few buck i bought a static IP. and guess what. port25 isn't blocked for me anymore. there must be an RFC to set a DNS record on what port you want to receive mail

make sure that HMS is running under an account and not local sysytem and that the account HMS is running with has read/write access
