Re: Problem sending server generated mail
I am going to close this - A. I found the same issue, even when I switched to using 'fake sendmail' for Windows. Same 'message deleted' in Debug mode, and no delivery. B. I was able to get Net::SMTP working, so my problem is resolved. I think there is an issue with getting mail from localhost via MS...

Re: Problem sending server generated mail
Ok - I will state the case succinctly, and offer to e-mail you the logs. In the logs, there are lots of SMTPC entries and they match POP3 and SMTPC sessions. As I said, the POP3 and Remote SMTP is working fine, ditto clamwin finding malware. All working right. However, there is not a single one (SMT...

Re: Problem sending server generated mail
Hi mattg: OK - I think I know 'the problem' at this point, although I don't know enough about hMail to get to its root cause. Your answers first: A. Presuming there is no other place to check the delivery queue other than under Status > Delivery Queue, there are no pending Deliveries. B. The SMTP De...

Re: Problem sending server generated mail
Hi MattG Thanks for the response. Hey, no need to post if everything is working right! hMail is as reliable as a YaBB Forum or a Novell Fileserver (that's VERY reliable!) As a member of the YaBB team and a GM on XAMPP, I have sent dozens of users here after listening to them complain about...

Problem sending server generated mail
First - let me thank Martin for a great product I have basically needed no support on for almost 4 years! OK Here's the problem: A few days ago I upgraded from 4.4.B273 to 5.3.3.B1873. Yep, backed everything up first, and had a 'no problems' (that I could detect) upgrade. I'm running the old MySQL, ...

^Doom^ Your Avatar rocks! So did your response in this thread. I had a stuck e-mail the daemon was wonking one of my admin accounts with. I hope I have got it corralled. thanks! YEP! the graceful end occurred when Hamil decided the stcuk mail may have been virus-ridden rather than admin-deleted, LOL...

Re: Listed as an open relay in dnsbl.njabl.org
ahhhh - it wasn't hMail that did that - that's a SYMPTOM. The 'X' fields were added by their script in the testing process. The fact they are present means that script was able to route through your server as a relay. An Open Relay test sits on both ends of an anonymous (to your server) Sender and R...

Hi Forum Question -
I was logged in composing a reply (yes I'm long winded) and I appear to have timed out, cause when I went to "Save Draft' - I hit the login page. I checked the User Control Panel didn't see a parameter for 'logged in for' or anythng like that. Is there a timeout/logoff default?
LOL

Does hMail fix bare LF's or simply forward?
Hi all I'm working on debugging a script. I'm running Hmail 4.4.1B273 on a W2K3 server. The script is the current Yabb Forum software (for those curious). Here's my problem - when I uncheck SMTP, RFC compliance 'allow imcorectly formatted line endings' - Hmail starts rejecting the forum-generated ma...

For those who like/are interested in Windows Home Server - here's a blog-zine full of good TESTED mods/add-ins. I was a beta tester (of WHS) , just for grins. http://www.wegotserved.co.uk/ Like the OP observed its kind of a mongrel product, but it does have IIS. And most of the w2K3 core is there. g...

I agree with Cumberland - please continue with an excellent Windows application. Reinstalling Hmail server after upgrade to external mySQL DB
I have one server that's running Hmail 4.4.1 with the built-in MySql install. I now need to support a forum, a CMS and a blog that are mySQL dependent on that server. After some soul-searching and consideration, I'm going to backup hMail and then uninstall it & the embedded mySQL install, rather tha...

Re: Hmail MySQL default tables & users
Thanks very much again Having now done some research in the documentation, on the Forum and on my server, it would appear (AT LEAST TO ME) - A. that the version of mySQL that was installed with hMail 4.4.1 was community server 4.1. B. that if I wish to extend/manipulate the mySQL install to accomoda...

BUT I tuned off the 'catchall' - GOT clean reports....
end of issue?

Re: Is my hMailserver being hack ??
d_k3moy China does seems to be the source of a lot of hacking. I had two yesterday. You can set a level for the number of invalid commands in SMTP, RFC Compliance. It defaults to 100, I think. The good news is that if they aren't getting in, they also aren't using a lot of bandwidth. They give up pr...

Thanks very much, having an 'all passed' reference point is valuable. I'm relieved its fixable, and to be honest I like to learn stuff, so its all good I guess. I'm hoping someone will know what 'switch' if I have clicked (or not), and can explain the rationale a bit. After I ran the tests with your...

hMail open relay tests Hi - I have two little leaks to fix and I am unsure of how to do it properly, or if these just vulnerabilities I must live with for now. I have two Hmail servers and they both seemed vulnerable on these issues, so I suspect its not a configuration issue I am unaware of. I'm ru...
