Re: connect failede because connected party did not properly res
Ok, that was the hint I needed. I had ATT uverse as my new provider, and evidently they were capturing port 25, even for static IP addresses. They were capturing it at the host level, outside the house, which was the reason that turning off the firewall didnt make any difference. I called them and t...

Re: connect failede because connected party did not properly res
Yes, I putty'd using telnet to that ip and port. Never received text back, but the carriage return appeared to get a response as the session did a line feed.

Been getting this for some time since I changed ISP's. I have a static IP, and that appears to be configured ok from everything I can determine, but when sending I get this message sending from any account on my mailserver (in this case to a gmail account): DEBUG" 2456 "2009-12-23 16:41:38.335" "App...

mail deliver failed - return to sender
I keep on getting emails rejected from my hmail server with the subject line above, and the message below. I have tried whitelisting the source account, and everything else I can think of. How do get it to allow these messages? It should always forward messages from the source account, but nothing I...

Script to count and handle failed logins
Does anyone have a script that will count failed login attempts from a particular IP, and send an email or some other form of notification when an arbitrary number of consecutive failed attempts is reached?

Re: Help - hacked server
Ok, thanks. I changed the password for Oracle, but what I really need to do is set that account to internal network only. Is that possible (ie, only take messages if it is coming from my internal network, as opposed to the internet)?

Disallow an IP address from getting mail
I was reviewing my logs and have discovered a couple of attempts to break into my mail server. Is there any way to disable connections from specific IP's after a certain number of log in attempts? Or is there some better method to watch for and stop attempts after they have tried to break in a few t...

Re: messages bounced with 530 SMTP authentication is required
Yes, that fixed it. I must have turned that on when I was debugging some firewall issues I had earlier thanks. One more question, hopefully the last one. In the log is this conversation when checking the pop3 account. Why am I getting the '-ERR Invalid command in current state' error message? : "DEB...

Re: messages bounced with 530 SMTP authentication is required
No, the problem is on the hmailserver side. I send the email from myaccount@gmail.com. Hmailserver returns the error message on the send that authentication is required. Its not when I try to get the mail from hmailserver, its when a foreign account sends it that the problem occurs. This was sent ba...

messages bounced with 530 SMTP authentication is required
Every email I send to accounts I have set up in hmail server get bounced with the error message above. I check the hmail log, and it is sending the error message, so it is getting to the correct address. This is most likely a simple setting somewhere, but I have not been able to find it. Can anyone ...
