Re: Get Server Status from Web App

(sniff sniff... smells like a spammer to me) Never heard of legitimate, mass-mailers then? The kind people sign up to knowingly, asking for updates on something? Besides, if I was a spammer, I wouldn't need to write my own - I know where I can hire botnets if I wanted to do that. Look for a thing c...

Get Server Status from Web App

Hi, I'm currently developing a web app that sends large quantities of e-mail, and I need to detect bouncebacks/unknown user errors so it doesn't attempt to mail them again and so I can notify my clients which e-mails bounced/didn't work. Can this be done with a stock install of hMailServer, or do I ...

IMAP Loses Sent E-Mail - Thunderbird 2.0.x.x Client

Hi, When sending e-mail from THunderbird with the main app wiondow closed but the compose e-mail window open, sent e-mail does not migrate to the SENT folder of the server. It acts as if the e-mail was never sent. Is it possible to get this to be done by the server itself, automatically? There is th...

Re: hmailserver as local office mailexchanger

I don't see the point... Are you trying to cluster servers (for redundancy)?

Best regards,
AstroTux.

Re: Checking e-Mail from Cell Phone Doesn't Work

Hi,

I've found the #1 issue with cell phone connectivity is down to DNS. Ensure the DNS servers for your domain are configured properly and it should find it OK! Beyond that, it is a network problem between the cell phone and the base station.

Best regards,
AstroTux.

Re: IMAP and hMailServer

Hi,

Found the problem: IMAP wasn't a permitted protocol under Advanced -> IP Ranges :D

Now SquirrelMail is reporting "Error: need to be logged in to view this page".

Best regards,
AstroTux.

IMAP and hMailServer

Hi, I'm trying to configure hMailServer as an IMAP server with SquirrelMail. I already successfully use the POP3/SMTP features of the server, but when I run configtest.php with SquirrelMail, it returns an error, and when logging in it also returns an error of "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP serve...

Some e-mail servers block the remote listing of user accounts on the mail server, so this wouldn't work in all situations. It could also lead to blacklisting.

The e-mail server I've just moved from had this option, so it wouldn't have worked.

TLS and/or SSL Support

The addition of TLS and/or SSL security into hMailServer would be good as presently passwords are sent across the internet in plain text.

Hi, The solution was to stop all instances of MySQL, rename the old instance, uninstall the broken hMailServer install, delete the install directory, install hMailServer using its own MySQL server, then restart the seperate MySQL server when the e-mail server is operational. The dependency is now po...

Hi, It appears that hMailServer is looking for an instance of MySQL - which MySQL does not install itself as. I have an older version of MySQL 4 on the server too (not running) and it is part of the dependency start group, not MySQL5. I tried running the dedicated MySQL server, too, but because of i...
